Celine Dion and Kathie Lee Gifford cried together over their husbands’ deaths on Friday’s “Today.” See video below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Dion was at the “Today” show to perform an outdoor concert. But she also co-hosted the morning show’s fourth hour, sitting in for Hoda Kotb. And during the appearance, Dion and Gifford both spoke candidly about losing their husbands, Rene Angelil and Frank Gifford, in the last year.
Gifford commended Dion for returning to the stage at the Billboard Music Awards in May, telling the superstar, “You gave strength to everybody. Because you’re strong, we can all be strong.” The TV personality became increasingly emotional as Dion spoke about finding “the best man in the world” as her husband, “like you did for yourself.” She noted, “We were both extremely lucky.”
There was actually a light-hearted moment, though, when a tissue box dropped down from the ceiling above to aid the crying Gifford. Dion was amusingly stunned, and exclaimed, “Oh my god, I want one like that!” But the spiritual singer also found serious meaning in it, too.
“You got the Kleenex from heaven,” Dion told Gifford. Always quick with a joke, though, the host replied, “You’re a really strange person.” And with that, Dion took a sip of wine. Check out the moving video below.
